Art Space and Design Galleries is seeking a dependable, skilled, and detail-oriented Professional Art Framer to join our dynamic team. This position is ideal for someone with a strong eye for craftsmanship, who is passionate about the arts and capable of supporting both framing and general gallery maintenance work. You'll work closely with a team of talented professionals in a creative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Professionally frame and stretch a wide variety of artwork to gallery standards
- Assist in the installation and display of artwork within the gallery and off-site venues
- Handle general gallery maintenance and renovations including drywall, painting, and basic repairs
- Safely transport artwork using a personal truck or large vehicle
- Evaluate and interpret layout plans, cost estimates, and timelines for framing and display projects
- Source appropriate materials for framing and ensure alignment with quality and cost standards
- Collaborate with the gallery team to coordinate artwork handling and installation logistics
- Provide tools and rental equipment as required to complete framing and installation projects
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Uphold all safety regulations and gallery protocols
- Represent the gallery with professionalism and provide excellent customer service to clients and artists
- Be available for occasional evening installations within the Calgary area
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in art framing and artwork handling
- Skilled in general trades: painting, drywall, light repairs
- Ability to lift and move large artworks safely
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Reliable transportation capable of moving artwork (truck or large vehicle required)
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- A keen eye for detail and pride in craftsmanship
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
