We are committed to providing meaningful early learning experiences while building positive relationships with children, families, and our team. We are currently looking for a passionate and dependable Early Childhood Educator / Infant Toddler Educator (ECE/IT) to join our growing team.
Position Overview
The ECE/IT will provide nurturing care and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for infants and toddlers while supporting their individual needs, interests, and developmental goals.
The successful candidate will contribute to a responsive classroom environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore. The educator will work closely with families and other team members to provide consistent, high-quality care in accordance with the childcare licensing requirements and centre policies.
Main Duties
- Develop and provide engaging learning experiences appropriate for the age, abilities, and developmental stages of infants and toddlers.
- Provide attentive and responsive care throughout the day, including feeding, diapering, toileting, rest, and sleep routines.
- Build trusting and nurturing relationships with children and support their emotional well-being.
- Encourage children's communication, social skills, independence, and early learning through everyday interactions and play.
- Observe children's development, interests, and behaviours and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Adapt activities and caregiving approaches to accommodate individual abilities and diverse needs.
- Maintain regular and respectful communication with parents and guardians regarding their child's daily experiences, development, and well-being.
- Maintain a welcoming, hygienic, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom.
- Follow all applicable health, safety, emergency, and childcare licensing requirements.
- Work effectively with educators and management to maintain consistent routines and a positive classroom experience.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, professional development, and centre initiatives.
- Complete required documentation using appropriate computer and digital systems.
- Follow all centre policies, procedures, and professional expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Valid BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate with Infant Toddler Educator (IT) Certification.
- Candidates with a valid BC ECE certificate who have experience working with infants and toddlers and have already begun, or are willing to begin, their Infant Toddler Educator training may also be considered.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification recognized for licensed childcare in BC.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check for working with children.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Previous experience in a licensed infant and toddler program is an asset.
- Knowledge of infant and toddler development and responsive caregiving.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Good organizational and observation skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a childcare team.
- Genuine interest in supporting the development and well-being of young children.
