12V Technician
J&P Auto is seeking an experienced, motivated 12V Service Technician to join our professional team in south Edmonton.

About the Role
As a 12V Technician, you will be responsible for installing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining low-voltage electrical systems in vehicles and mobile equipment. This includes wiring, electronic accessories, communications equipment, GPS tracking systems, cameras, alarms, lighting, audio systems, and other 12-volt components. This requires strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to read wiring diagrams, and knowledge of electrical testing equipment to ensure systems are installed safely and function reliably.
Reporting to the Garage Manager, this opportunity is well-suited for a motivated, detail-oriented professional who thrives under pressure, adapts quickly to changing priorities, and enjoys working in a busy automotive environment.
What You’ll Do
- Assembling, installing, repairing, replacing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronic components and systems.
- Inspect and test electronic equipment and assemblies.
- Diagnose and locate circuit, component, and equipment faults.
- Complete work orders, tests, and maintenance reports.
- Utilize computer skills and use of our internal proprietary software.
- Utilize software to enable, program, and test systems.
- Ensure all power and manual tools are operated in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Run wiring for our new starts.Install/replace new and old cameras and radios.
- Provide training and support for new technicians and apprentices.
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing of equipment.
- Interpret drawings, training manuals, and instructions to perform duties.
- Follow written, verbal, and telephonic instructions.
- Strip vehicles
- Prepare cost estimates.
What You Bring
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a 12V or Electronics Engineering Technician role
- Read and understand wiring diagrams and vehicle schematics
- Install mobile electronics like GPS Trackers, Cameras, Stereos, Alarms, and remote starters
- Use multimeters and test lights to find electrical shorts or power draws
- Troubleshoot DC power issues in cars, trucks, or RVs
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Reliable, proactive, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment
