Location - Downtown Toronto (Hybrid - 3 days per week) - subject to change at any time.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Administer, support, and maintain enterprise database environments including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and AWS RDS.
- Monitor database performance, availability, and capacity while proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Oracle GoldenGate replication environments.
- Support cloud-based database infrastructure hosted within AWS.
- Implement database deployments, upgrades, patching, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Bash, Ansible, and GitHub to improve operational efficiency.
- Manage database schema and release changes using Liquibase.
- Utilize monitoring and observability tools including AWS CloudWatch, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Dynatrace to ensure platform health.
- Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to improve database resilience, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud, security, and DevOps teams to support production environments and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- 5 to 10 years of experience in enterprise level database administration and support (preferably in banking or financial services).
- Strong expertise in AWS databases, Oracle and MSSQL, with hands on experience managing cloud based RDS deployments.
- Proficient in Oracle GoldenGate setup, troubleshooting, and replication strategies.
- Experience with automation/scripting (Python, Bash, Ansible, Github), and Liquibase for database change management.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Dynatrace).
- Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles applied to database environments.
- Strong problem solving and communication skills with the ability to lead cross functional teams.
**CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000–$130,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
