Job Summary
We're looking for a Payroll Administrator to join our Payroll team on a 6-month temporary contract, with the possibility of extension or becoming permanent.
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting benefits administration, payroll compliance, and team member records. Working collaboratively with Human Resources, Finance, and leaders across the organization, you will help provide exceptional payroll services that support our team members and enable Baptist Housing to fulfill its mission.
Responsibilities
- Process and support accurate, timely bi-weekly payrolls.
- Maintain payroll records, team member information, compensation changes, and benefits administration within the payroll system.
- Reconcile vacation, sick time, benefits, and payroll information with Human Resources and leadership teams.
- Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs), year-end tax reporting, CRA reporting, retroactive payments, garnishments, and payroll remittances.
- Respond to payroll and benefit inquiries from team members and external agencies.
- Coordinate with Human Resources, Finance, Accounts Payable, and external benefit providers to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain payroll documentation and ensure internal controls, legislation, and organizational policies are followed.
- Provide operational support to the Payroll team and assist with special projects as required.
Skills
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation.
- High School Diploma, with post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field considered an asset.
- Experience processing Canadian payroll in a multi-site or complex organizational environment.
- Experience administering payroll systems, benefits, and payroll-related legislation.
- Experience collaborating with Human Resources, Finance, and other stakeholders to resolve payroll and benefits inquiries.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, CRA requirements, and payroll best practices.
- Payroll processing, benefits administration, and payroll compliance.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Collaborative team player with a flexible approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
Compensation
- Competitive salary between $68,000-$72,000 annually
Pay: $68,000.00-$72,000.00 per year
