Job Overview
Long Point Eco-Adventures is seeking enthusiastic and engaging individuals to join our team as Observatory & Planetarium Guides. In this role, you will help create memorable and educational night sky experiences for our guests by leading interactive planetarium presentations and observatory tours.
Guides will introduce visitors to the wonders of astronomy through planetarium shows, telescope viewing sessions, and guided stargazing experiences. This position combines education, storytelling, and guest interaction to make astronomy accessible and exciting for audiences of all ages.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, has an interest in astronomy and science, and is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead planetarium presentations, guiding guests through constellations, planets, and astronomical phenomena
- Conduct observatory tours and telescope viewing sessions
- Share knowledge of the night sky, celestial objects, and seasonal constellations in an engaging and approachable way
- Encourage curiosity by answering questions and interacting with guests of all ages
- Operate and assist guests with telescope and observatory equipment
- Assist with special astronomy events, group tours, and educational programs
- Work with team members to create a welcoming and memorable guest experience
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the observatory and planetarium spaces
Qualifications
- Minimum a High School Diploma is required; preference given to those currently enrolled in or graduates of a recognized college/university
- Candidates must be 18 years old on or before April 1st
- Passion for astronomy, science, and the night sky
- Comfortable speaking to groups and presenting information in an engaging way
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work with guests of all ages and backgrounds
- Knowledge or experience with telescopes, planetariums, or astronomy equipment is an asset
- Ability to work days,evenings, weekends, and holidays
- A love of nature, science, and outdoor environments
