The Bakery Assistant Team Lead organizes, directs, controls, and evaluates the operations of the bakery department. You will supervise, coach, and coordinate the activities of Team Members who produce, portion, and serve various bakery products, and assure that all objectives and goals of the department and store, as communicated by the Market Manager, and leadership team, are met or exceeded. You will ensure a positive company image by providing legendary customer service and exceptional leadership!
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in leading from scratch high volume production department.
- Estimate for approval and then place orders for ingredients and supplies.
- Monitor customer order summaries and completion to guarantee quality and accuracy.
- Maintain records of stock, repairs, sales, and wastage.
- Assist and complete frequent inventory of department.
- Follow all standardized recipes without deviation.
- Reporting any recipe errors or concerns immediately to the Team Lead and Market Management.
- Ensure that food products and customer service meet Sunterra quality standards.
- Demonstrate growth in product knowledge, including awareness of product changes, promotions, and seasonal trends.
- Resolve customer complaints and ensure health and safety regulations are followed.
- Waste bin execution.
- Follow and monitor sanitation checklists and log sheets.
- Train and coach Team Members in job role duties and health and safety procedures.
- Setting up daily and weekly targets for bakery items, with main focus on items which are down over previous year, these should be reviewed with the bakery team and the market manager at the weekly meetings.
- Maintaining a full, colorful, and abundant showcase, with attention to product rotation signage.
- Assist in all promotional and holiday roll-outs.
- Cover bakery shifts when required.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary in Baking & Pastry Arts would be considered an asset.
- Experience within a commercial bakery would be considered an asset.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent communications skills.
Working Conditions:
Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
Some exposure to temperature variations and wet conditions.
May walk and work on uneven surfaces.
Working around hot surfaces (grills, stoves, ovens, etc.)
Working with knives and slicing machines
Requires some reaching above and below shoulder height.
Repetitive use of hands with power grasping and fine manipulation.
Repetitive stretching and lifting required.
Lifting of items up to 40 pounds (over 40 requires a team lift)
WHIMS and Food Safety certification requirement (Sunterra will provide online training)
