Kindly submit your application only if you are available to work CONSISTENTLY on Fridays and Saturdays from 3:30 pm to 9:30 pm, and have experience with young paraplegic individuals and J-tube Feeding.
You must be registered with the AB HCA Directory or the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle for efficient commuting to the client's location are considered assets.
About Us: We are a local non-franchise home care company providing medical and non-medical home care to seniors in Alberta and B.C. We employ Health Care Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses. We are licensed, bonded and insured, and all staff are covered under WCB and WSBC.
Duties may include:
- Ability to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal care for an individual with cerebral palsy and paraplegia.
- Provide support with transfers using mechanical lifts
- Assist with feeding via J-tube
- Monitor cognitive health and safety
- Facilitate Well-being activities
- Companionship
- Medication remainders
- Completing records accurately and carrying out all assignments as requested
Requirements:
- Live in SW Calgary, Canada
- Hold a valid permit to work in Canada
- Personal Support Registered Health Care Aide or have a Nursing Degree in Canada or another country
- Current First Aid and CPR Training
- Driver's License & access to a vehicle
Language:
- Good English communication and comprehension
Experience :
- Minimum one year of experience in this field (CNA Preferred)
- Experience assisting clients with cerebral palsy and paraplegia, including mobility and positioning support
- Proficiency in assisting transfers using mechanical lifts and safe handling techniques
- Experience assisting with enteral feeding via J-tube
Skills and Abilities :
- Ability to deal with others compassionately and supportively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate medical equipment
