Manager of Fleet Operations – Night Shift
(Permenant – Full Time)
Reporting to the Director of Fleet and Facilities, you will be responsible for the supervision of all matters relating to productivity, compliance with reasonable expectations, scheduling and planning of work and general operational problems affecting employee and/or service performance.
Reporting to the Director of Fleet & Facilities, the Manager of Fleet Operations is responsible for overseeing night shift fleet maintenance operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable transit service delivery. The role provides leadership in a unionized environment and ensures compliance with all applicable legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WSIA, and LTC’s policies and procedures.
This position plays a key role in maintaining operational readiness, supporting service reliability, and promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to night shift staff, supervising attendance, productivity, conduct, and operational effectiveness in a unionized environment.
- Oversee fleet maintenance activities, including bus repair, servicing, road calls, work order systems, and preventative maintenance programs, while ensuring fleet readiness and accurate documentation.
- Coordinate staffing requirements, including overtime, call-ins, and shift coverage adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with OHSA, WSIA, and LTC policies by conducting workplace inspections, participating in incident investigations, and promoting safe work practices and PPE use.
- Contribute to operational planning, reporting, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with vendors and contractors to support service quality and contract performance, and participate in on-call responsibilities as operationally required
Qualifications & Skills
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline (minimum two-year program), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of related experience in fleet maintenance, transit operations, or heavy vehicle environments, including demonstrated leadership experience.
- Valid Ontario Truck and Coach Technician License (310T), experience in a unionized environment, and knowledge of diesel and heavy vehicle maintenance and fleet scheduling systems are considered assets.
- Strong leadership, coaching, problem-solving, and conflict-management skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, union representatives, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive operational environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office and fleet or operational management systems.

This is a full-time, permanent position working the night shift (Sunday to Thursday, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM). The role is based in-office at the Wonderland Facility, and is a replacement position.
The salary range for this position is $92,609.60 – $115,762.00, commensurate with skills and experience, and includes a comprehensive pension and benefits package.
