Shop Foreman – Heavy Equipment & Fleet Maintenance

About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Shop Foreman to join our team in Sudbury, Ontario. Reporting directly to the Shop Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance and repair activities related to drilling equipment and the company's vehicle fleet.
This leadership role requires a hands-on professional who can effectively supervise maintenance personnel, coordinate repair activities, optimize resources, and ensure equipment reliability to support ongoing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate mechanical maintenance and repair activities for drilling equipment and fleet vehicles.
- Optimize the use of labor, tools, equipment, and parts to achieve maintenance and operational objectives.
- Supervise, mentor, and support maintenance employees to maximize performance and productivity.
- Collaborate with operations and management teams to establish maintenance priorities and schedules.
- Participate in planning meetings to ensure efficient execution of maintenance activities.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance programs and equipment servicing schedules.
- Manage parts, equipment requisitions, and maintenance-related administrative tasks.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and work with maintenance staff to develop effective solutions and process improvements.
- Ensure maximum recovery and utilization of mechanical parts and equipment.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
- Monitor and control access, traffic flow, and safety procedures within the garage and maintenance areas.
- Support maintenance activities at off-site locations when required.
- Perform other related duties as needed to support operational requirements.
Qualifications
- Mechanic Diploma or related mechanical training.
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical experience in heavy equipment, fleet maintenance, industrial equipment, mining, drilling, or related industries.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is considered a strong asset.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in the use of computers and maintenance-related software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable adapting to changing priorities and unexpected situations.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
- Explosives Licence and Mining Modules are considered strong assets.
