Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and dedicated Support & Kitchen Team Member to join our dynamic food service team. This role involves assisting with food preparation, ensuring food safety standards, and providing excellent service to our guests. Duties
- Assist in meal preparation and cooking to support kitchen operations
- Serve food and beverages efficiently and courteously to customers
- Handle food safely and maintain cleanliness in food preparation areas
- Support kitchen staff with basic food handling and prep tasks
- Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ensure timely delivery of orders and excellent customer service
- Help with cleaning, organizing, and restocking supplies in the kitchen and dining areas
- Follow all health and safety regulations related to food service
Skills
- Experience in serving, food preparation, or cooking within a restaurant or food industry setting
- Knowledge of food handling procedures and food safety standards
- Strong understanding of meal preparation and food service operations
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Basic kitchen experience preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively
Welcome to Blüm Academy — an award-winning, modern, licensed childcare organization located in Calgary's inner city. We are currently seeking an energetic, organized, and dependable Support & Kitchen Team Member to join our Operations Team at our West Hillhurst Campus.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role that combines food preparation and classroom support in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone who enjoys staying busy, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and understands the importance of creating and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment.
While professional culinary experience is highly valued, we also welcome applicants with experience working around children in schools, camps, recreation programs, family services, hospitality, or other child-focused environments.
What You'll Do
Kitchen & Food Preparation
- Prepare fresh, nutritious meals and snacks for students at our academy each day
- Assist with menu planning and meal preparation
- Manage kitchen inventory and grocery ordering
- Follow food safety and sanitation procedures at all times
- Serve meals to classrooms using appropriate serving ware
- Collect, wash, sanitize, and organize dishes and kitchen equipment using
- Maintain an exceptionally clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
Facility Support
- Assist with maintaining a clean, sanitary, and welcoming facility
- Support daily cleaning and disinfecting routines
- Help manage garbage and recycling collection
- Assist with laundering linens and classroom materials as needed
- Work collaboratively with the Operations Team to support overall campus needs
What We're Looking For
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing meals in a commercial kitchen, childcare centre, school, restaurant, hospitality setting, or similar environment
- Experience working with or around children is considered a strong asset
- Food Handling Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (or willingness to obtain)
- Willingness to obtain Alberta Early Childhood Educator Level 1 Certification
