S&R Sawmills has a long history of Custom Cutting in the Lower Mainland. We are a family run business that was established in 1963 and we currently have a workforce of over 300 employees on a large strip of the Fraser River. Role Description:
Reporting to the Shift Foreman, Loader Operator employees are responsible for safely operating the CAT 980 Front End Loaders, loading conveyer belts for the chip barge/scow and rigging of the barges.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily equipment checks, including fueling and checking the oil
- Loading chip conveyers with wood byproducts (chips, sawdust & hogg)
- Rigging of the chip scow/barge
- Obey all traffic laws and local bylaws
- Correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Identify, protect, and report safety hazards to management or a member of the safety committee
- Follow all Safe Work Procedures
- Other duties as assigned by the Shift Foreman
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment required
- Preference for experience on CAT980
- Experience with forest products considered an asset
- Valid BC Drivers License
- Physical demands require be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and strong command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Safety first attitude
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work (Mill is transit accessible)
- Must be able to do shift work (Day shifts are 7:00am – 3:30pm, Afternoon shifts are 3:30pm-12:00am)
