Purpose:
The main goal of this position is to support the Lower Kootenay Band community by mitigating fire
risks around various homes.
Job Description:
This position involves safely operating hand and power tools, providing skilled manual labor, and
completing brush clearing tasks including chainsaw operating and manually feeding a woodchipper.
This position will also prepare yards and install drain rock borders and sod in the yards, around the
homes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Operate basic power tools such as brush cutters, chainsaws and brush saws.
- Operate hand tools including shovels, rakes, picks, hoes and a sod packer.
- Provide skilled manual labor on assigned tasks.
- Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner, adhering strictly to relevant legislation,
company policies, and established procedures to promote a secure working environment.
- Complete brush clearing and chipping work while maintaining a clean and organized work
area throughout the process.
- Continuously monitor and assess work conditions, promptly reporting any safety hazards or
equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel for swift resolution.
- Ensure safe and efficient equipment operation, adhering strictly to regulations, company
policies, and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members to achieve project objectives.
