The four priorities for RHAG Housing include single women and women with children leaving abusive situations, homeless individuals and families, older single women, and women who have had contact with the criminal justice system. Riverdale Housing Animation Programs, the charitable arm of RHAG, creates programs for the children, families, and youth of the RHAG community. The Child and Youth Worker is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the organization’s low-income child, youth, and family Summer Camp. The summer Camp is also inclusive of RHAP’s senior community. The Child and Youth Worker is also responsible for fundraising and outreach to local community businesses and organizations to find affordable outings for the Summer Camp program. This includes outreach via social media. At Camp, the Child and Youth Worker demonstrates positive role modeling for the organization's children and youth, including conflict resolution skills, open and equitable communication, teamwork, and leadership. They are responsible for working with other staff to ensure that everyone is safe during outings. The Child and Youth Worker liaises with families by providing feedback regarding children's behaviour, learning, etc. They are responsible for attendance and all communications with parents regarding Camp and upcoming events. They share parent/family feedback with the Community and Social Services Worker and the Support Services Coordinator, who will work collaboratively to address how the organization can better support its children and youth. The Child and Youth Worker may also assist the Support Services Coordinator and Community and Social Service Worker with direct tenant support and administrative tasks. The Child and Youth Worker may also be required to assist with organizing other RHAG/RHAP events, including a Town Hall, Fundraiser, and events with RHAG’s partner organization Innstead Co-operative Inc. in the same office.
Summer Camp Programming
- Plan Camp activities and maintain communication with activity sites, as well as local organization and businesses.
- Ensure the safety of all participants during Camp activities.
- Model respect and appropriate communication to set a positive example for community members.
- Send communications via letters, text, phone calls, and email to community members to manage attendance for upcoming events.
- Maintain Camp attendance and RSVP list.
- Collect information about Camp participants to support their needs.
- Maintain budget tracking sheet for Camp with the assistance of the Support Services Coordinator.
Community Development
- Facilitate tenant participation within the structures of RHAG and RHAP.
- Plan Summer Town Hall with Community and Social Service Worker.
- Coordinate newsletters and provide resources to tenants.
- Network with partner agencies and local businesses.
- Plan and host Summer Fundraiser.
- Plan community event for Innstead Co-opeartive Inc.
Other Duties
- Occasionally provide direct support to tenants for issues pertaining to housing and social services.
- Cooperate on other tasks that contribute to the efficiency of the organization, including digitizing office records as needed.
- Maintain appropriate records with confidentiality.
This is an in-person position.
Pay: $17.60 per hour
