Geriatric Psychiatry Community Mental Health Program
Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville
Provide psychological and psychodiagnostic assessments in accordance with Regulations, Standards of Professional Conduct, & Guidelines of the College of Psychologists of Ontario, within an interdisciplinary team (may include clinical consultation and participation in research & education).
Perform assessments including selection, administration, scoring and interpretation of a variety of standardized tools.
Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, consultation and psyho- education to clients, as well as consultation education to the treatment interdisciplinary teams.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and hospital committees.
Participate in planning, organization and delivery of services through needs assessments and evaluation.
Maintain knowledge, skills and abilities by keeping up to date regarding professional standards through reviewing current literature, attending workshops/seminars, networking with colleagues.
Participate in teaching, supervision and education of students from health related disciplines.
Provide regular reports regarding workload statistics.
Participating in advancing the goals and objectives of the Geriatric Psychiatry Community Mental Health Program.
Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal's Harassment-Free Workplace Policy
Other duties as assigned.
Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from a CPA accredited university, with the Competency and accompanying College registration required to work with both adults and those over the age of 65.
Extensive knowledge of assessment and treatment of the Geriatric population.
Experience with provision of evidence-based interventions for the treatment of mental illness including dementia related illnesses within a Geriatric patient population.
Commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement.
Experience in working with older adults and an understanding of areas of vulnerability for this population.
Ability to work actively and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and with other service providers.
Knowledge of relevant legislation (PHIPA, Mental Health Act, Substitute Decisions Act, CCC, CSA) impacting on practice in this mental health setting.
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with clients, family and other care givers.
Automobile for work use is required and a valid driver’s license.
Salary Range: $54.00 to $67.03 per hour
