POSITION: Junior Handyman / Facilities Assistant

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent, Full Time

REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager

Founded in 1988, Montair was established with the goal of training future professional pilots to a skill and knowledge level that would allow them to serve the airline industry with minimal further training required. Due to the strong demand for skilled airline pilots from China's rapidly growing aviation industry, the company took a new direction in 2005. Montair was and continues to be one of the few schools around the world to receive approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to train airline pilots. The company has developed an advanced airline training program, designed to provide the most professional, highly skilled pilots to the airlines. To date, Montair has trained and graduated hundreds of airline pilots, a number that continues to grow.

Assist with facility/hangar maintenance.
Actively supports the company Safety Management System by participating in the program and acting appropriately for their role as defined within the Operations Manual.
Perform exterior maintenance including mowing lawn, trimming, fertilization, planting, weeding, mulch application, painting, general landscaping, snow removal, and small construction-related projects, etc., as required.
Inspect the grounds every morning, removing debris to ensure high-level curb appeal.
Ensure that tools and equipment (i.e. power and hand tools, lawn mower, etc.) are kept in a safe working condition and that health and safety procedures are adhered to.
Regularly inspect laundry facilities, common area washrooms, etc. to ensure proper functioning and cleanliness.
Ensures readiness and replenishment of de-icing equipment is complete during the winter operations.
Ensures Health and Safety standards and rules are both met and adhered to.
Deliver high-quality service to students.
Providing assistance to Ramp as required.
All other duties as assigned.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Computer literate with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite products.
Effective time management skills.
Able to lift heavy equipment and appliances using the proper tools and safety equipment.
Be willing and able to work in an outdoor environment.
Basic landscaping and building maintenance preferred, but not required.
Prior Aviation experience preferred, but not required.
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
Valid Class 5 Provincial Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle.

Must be able to bend, stoop, sit, stand, walk, reach, lift, pull, push, balance, crouch, crawl, and kneel.
May be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions, chemical hazards, respiratory hazards, extreme cold for more than 1 hour at a time, and/or extreme heat for more than 1 hour at a time.
Must be able to safely lift up to 75 lbs.
Positive hands-on training.
Must be able to climb stairs, work on ladders, and in confined spaces.
