We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to help oversee daily activities within our fruit packing facility.
Position Overview
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for managing packing lines, ensuring product quality, overseeing staff, and coordinating workflow to meet production targets. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of packing-house operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations across multiple packing lines.
- Ensure fruit is graded, sorted, and packed according to company and customer specifications.
- Monitor product quality and enforce food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP, GAP)
- Assign tasks and oversee performance of production staff, including training and coaching.
- Collaborate with maintenance to ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely.
- Track production metrics include throughput, waste, labor use, and downtime.
- Maintain accurate documentation for traceability, inventory, and quality control.
- Assist with scheduling labor based on production requirements.
- Enforce safety policies and promote a safe working environment.
Qualifications
· Supervisory experience in a packing house, warehouse, or food-processing environment.
· Knowledge of fruit handling, grading, and packing procedures (apples, Cherries, stone fruit)
· Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
· Flexibility to work extended hours during peak season.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) is an asset.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs when necessary.
- Ability to work in cool, wet, or noisy environments typical of packing facilities.
Working Conditions
The work primarily takes place indoors within a fruit processing facility and may be exposed to severe temperature variations. The operating hours of the plant are influenced by factors such as crop availability, production requirements, and shipping schedules, often resulting in extended hours and operations seven days a week during peak months June to August.
