Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and licensed Trailer Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. Duties
- Perform comprehensive inspections of trailers, including brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, air systems, and electrical components using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Conduct repairs on transmissions, engines (including diesel engines), shocks & struts, and other critical systems utilizing hand tools and power tools.
- Fabricate custom parts or modifications as needed for trailer repairs or enhancements, employing welding and soldering techniques.
- Diagnose issues related to heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery to determine necessary repairs or replacements.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete repair reports, and update maintenance logs accurately for all work performed.
- Utilize heavy equipment operation skills when needed for moving or testing trailers and machinery during repair processes.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards such as air brake regulations and vehicle maintenance protocols while adhering to dealership or company policies.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in automotive repair, trailer maintenance, or heavy equipment servicing.
- Dealership experience is highly preferred, especially with knowledge of Caterpillar machinery or similar industrial equipment.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and component assembly.
- Familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting complex systems on trailers and heavy machinery.
- Ability to operate forklifts, excavators, cranes, tractor-trailers, and other industrial equipment safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems related to vehicle climate control is a plus.
