Project Management Office (PMO) Manager
The Project Management Office (PMO) Manager will have direct reporting relationship to the Director of Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions (FHES).
The PMO manager will lead the project management function in FHES which is engaged in the design, development, and manufacture of safety and non-safety related equipment and systems used for the remote control of fuel handling systems, specialized reactor inspection and maintenance tooling and process plant systems in the nuclear industry.
Responsibilities include functional leadership of Program Managers, Project Managers, Project Coordinators and Project Scheduling and Controls Specialists as well as Contractors and Business Analysts as required.
Specific responsibilities and accountabilities include the following:
Establish departmental plans, goals and objectives including process improvement, effective and consistent use of the project planning software / tools, success criteria, metrics, staff development, training, resource requirements and budgets.
Carry out communication meetings with staff to review work plans and relay goals, objectives, expectations and other general information impacting the unit.
Provide functional managers and individual contributors with data for resource planning and human performance.
Present and report on the project management function, issues, solutions, improvements and resource needs. Report on customer scorecard feedback for projects and develop plans and actions for improvement in cooperation with the functional units.
Lead process change and simplification through goal setting, process enhancement, and technology in order to achieve business goals.
Recruitment, staff development, succession planning, performance reviews, salary planning, and retention for department.
Work with the Senior Leadership team to develop approaches and processes to effectively improve organizational effectiveness.
Participate in and support overall operational business monitoring and planning (e.g. resources, sales, margins, forecasting, revenue recognition, CAPEX).
Ensure compliance and adherence to processes and policy requirements.
Work with Sales and Marketing to identify growth opportunities and formulate strategic recommendations.
Assistance as required in communication of significant issues and risks to customers at more senior level.
React to customer escalation requests, including negotiation of solutions, facilitation and issue resolution.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with management levels of customer organizations.
Take responsibility for communicating VoC feedback and coordinating responses and actions to customer scorecards.
Bachelors’ Degree (Engineering or Business preferred).
PMP certification and/or PEO license.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a design and manufacturing environment, with experience in project management and a managerial or other leadership role.
Short term travel (up to 10%) may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients and stakeholders.
Key success factors are achieving and maintaining effective project planning, reporting management, milestone completion on-time / on-budget, meeting metrics, motivating a diverse group of staff, and achieving results through influencing, actions and setting of expectations.
Demonstrated ability in product or system design and project planning / execution, including development of processes / procedures and process improvements.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: Engineering design, team leadership, product design leadership, manufacturing team leadership, commercial operations, project coordination and / or project planning.
Experience with Primavera (P6).
Knowledge of data management and manipulation in Excel such as visual basic programming, spreadsheet server, and pivot tables.
Resource and financial management experience.
Experience in the nuclear industry is considered an asset but not required.
