ABOUT THE ROLE
Dfy Studio is looking for a Senior Interior Designer to join our growing team. We’re seeking someone with strong commercial interior design experience who is confident leading projects, mentoring team members, and collaborating closely with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Our work spans workplace, healthcare/clinic, hospitality, civic, and institutional environments. We value thoughtful design, technical excellence, and a highly collaborative studio culture. WHAT YOU WILL OWN
– Lead commercial interior design projects from concept through construction.
– Oversee project coordination, drawing production, detailing, and documentation.
– Guide and mentor intermediate and junior designers within the studio.
– Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors, and clients throughout all project phases.
– Lead client meetings, presentations, and project communication.
– Conduct site visits, field reviews, and assist with contract administration tasks.
– Support material selection, FF&E specification, and design development.
– Manage multiple project timelines and help ensure deadlines are met.
WHAT YOU BRING
Non-Negotiable
– Minimum 7+ years of experience in commercial interior design.
– Degree or diploma in Interior Design or Architecture.
– ARIDO and/or NCIDQ certification.
– Strong proficiency in CAD.
– Strong understanding of construction documentation, detailing, and coordination.
– Solid knowledge of Ontario Building Code and barrier-free design requirements.
– Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
– Experience with contract administration and site review.
– Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
– Comfortable working collaboratively across project teams and disciplines.
– Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for site visits within the Waterloo Region and GTA.
Nice to Have Skills
– Experience with REVIT, SketchUp, Enscape, or other visualization tools.
– Knowledge of sustainable design practices and commercial furniture procurement.
