As a Developer Team Lead; you will report to the Director of Software Development and will assist in building, improving and maintaining a world-class, multi-channel e-commerce platform.
You will hold responsibility for identifying bottlenecks in the process and roadblocks to success for the team and clearing these roadblocks. Engage in small technical deliverables, such as bug fixes and small features, without blocking or slowing down the progress of the team.
We are building a series of services and web apps to create a centralized authentication and account management platforms, which includes universal login and account management applications that will be used by 12+ applications, and 10M+ Canadians.
What you'll do
Develop complex consumer facing software using Java, Spring Framework and Hybris.
Mentor, coach less experienced developers, through design sessions, code reviews and pair programming.
Work through hard problems with your team and deliver consistent results.
Think long term. Create technical roadmap for products or services your team owns.
With your experience and judgment, influence the business on how software can enhance end user experience.
Follow agile development principles when the situation calls for it. Use tools such as continuous integration, automated tests and automated deployments to improve product time-to-market.
Work together with front-end developers and external development agencies.
Organize and participate in our twice a year hackathons, where technology and business work together to create cool things
Does this sound like you?
You are a seasoned developer with solid object-oriented programming skills and mentorship exeperience.
Ability to develop complex consumer facing software using Java, Spring Framework and Hybris.
You are opinionated about what it takes to produce great software, but remain receptive to other's ideas.
You care about ownership. You proactively seek out bugs and fix them. Occasionally, when bugs find you, you don't sweep them under the rug.
You are experienced with software estimation, often confronted with complexity and uncertainty.
You make decisions based on data. You are versed with tools to measure every aspect of the application.
You have developed large applications in a team environment.
You are not afraid of changes. Armed with excellent refactoring techniques, you work effectively with legacy code.
You are a good communicator. You are able to present complicated solutions to non-technical audience in a simple and logical way.

Lead technical architecture for a whole component
Conduct performance reviews. Set accountabilities for team members.
Align the team's work with the company's strategic and tactical goals.
Shield the team from distractions.
Perform advanced project management duties.
Define the long term vision for the team's component.
Provide escalation resolution for your team.
Establish standards for code and systems.
Lead technical architecture for component relationships.

Provide workplace and career guidance.

Create process for assigning decision-making responsibilities.
