Drywall Supervisor
Position Summary
Responsible for supervising and coordinating drywall installation crews on residential, commercial, and/or industrial construction projects. Ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to company and project quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate drywall installers, tapers, and labourers on job sites.
- Plan daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Coordinate drywall installation, framing, boarding, taping, finishing, and repairs.
- Monitor job-site progress and ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with project specifications.
- Coordinate with general contractors, site supervisors, project managers, and other trades.
- Order and track drywall, framing materials, fasteners, tools, and other required supplies.
- Maintain productivity and minimize material waste and rework.
- Enforce company safety policies and applicable workplace safety regulations.
- Train, mentor, and provide direction to crew members.
- Identify and resolve job-site issues, deficiencies, and scheduling conflicts.
- Maintain accurate records of labour, materials, production, and daily site activities.
- Ensure work areas are kept clean, organized, and safe.
- Communicate project updates, delays, material requirements, and other concerns to management.
Qualifications
- Several years of experience in drywall installation and finishing.
- Previous supervisory or lead-hand experience in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of drywall systems, materials, tools, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid driver's licence is an asset.
- WHMIS and applicable construction safety training is an asset.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry construction materials.
- Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and elevated work areas.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying construction-site conditions.
