Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Patient Support Worker (PSW) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing compassionate patient care, supporting medical staff, and assisting with various clinical and administrative tasks. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment, particularly within pediatric and hospital settings, with a focus on improving patient experiences and outcomes. Prior experience working with children, in hospital environments, or in research is highly valued. The PSW will contribute to case management, data collection, and support for patients with diverse needs, including those requiring special education services.
Duties
- Assist healthcare professionals with patient care activities, ensuring comfort and safety for pediatric and general patient populations
- Support patients with daily activities, including mobility, hygiene, and nutrition as needed
- Collect and document clinical data accurately to support ongoing research and patient records
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical staff using appropriate medical terminology
- Support case management efforts by coordinating appointments, follow-up care, and resource referrals
- Help implement individualized care plans for patients requiring special education or additional support services
- Maintain a clean and safe environment within clinical areas and assist with equipment setup and sanitation
- Participate in ongoing training related to patient care protocols and hospital procedures
Experience
- Experience working with children in healthcare or educational settings is preferred
- Prior hospital experience or familiarity with medical environments is advantageous
- Knowledge of research methodologies and data collection techniques related to patient care or pediatrics is a plus
- Background in patient care roles such as medical assistant, caregiver, or similar positions is beneficial
- Understanding of medical terminology and case management processes enhances effectiveness in this role
- Experience supporting patients with special needs or in special education programs is desirable
