Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Crane Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a natural leader with excellent organizational skills and a passion for driving success.
The primary responsibility of the crane manager is to oversee all crane operations on the job sites. The position ensures that cranes are operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines. The CM is responsible for ensuring that all safety protocols are followed and is the authority on safety compliance for all lifting operations
Responsibilities:
· Producing lift plans
· Assessing critical lifts and producing critical lift studies
· Reviewing lift procedures
· Conducting Lifting & Safety observations on all project crane operations
· Optimizing cranage for required lifts
· Planning and sequencing long-term lifting operations
· Allocating resources (Cranes and Operators) to Project lift requirements
· Ensure all crane operators receive equipment-specific training and demonstrate competency in operating the machinery.
Additional Key Responsibilities of a Crane Manager
· Staff Supervision: A crane manager often supervises a team of crane operators and signal persons. They provide guidance, training, and support to ensure the team works cohesively and safely.
· Equipment Maintenance: Crane managers are responsible for working with the plant department for scheduling and overseeing routine maintenance and inspections of cranes. They ensure cranes are in optimal working condition and promptly address maintenance issues.
· Project Planning: Crane managers participate in project planning meetings and collaborate with project managers to determine crane requirements, scheduling, and coordination. They provide valuable insights into crane logistics for project planning.
· Budget Management: Managing the budget for crane operations is critical to the role. Crane managers must allocate resources efficiently and make informed decisions regarding equipment rental, maintenance, and staffing.
· Permit and Compliance Management: Securing the necessary permits for crane operations and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations are part of the crane manager's duties. They must keep up to date with regulatory changes and ensure the team adheres to them.
· Emergency Response: In the event of accidents or emergencies, crane managers must be prepared to act swiftly and effectively. They coordinate responses, assess damages, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
· Record Keeping: Maintaining comprehensive records of crane operations, safety checks, maintenance schedules, and incident reports is crucial. This documentation is essential for auditing and compliance purposes.
· Continuous Education: Staying informed about industry advancements, safety regulations, and crane technology is a constant responsibility. Crane managers must keep their knowledge current and ensure their team receives the necessary training.
Experience/Qualifications:
- 10-15 years lifting experience involving tower and mobile cranes of varying sizes
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or relevant technical field is preferred and considered an asset
- Crane Operator Certification from BC Association for Crane Safety (BCACS) required
- Red Seal endorsement required
- Knowledge of ASME B30.5 (Mobile Cranes) and CSA Z150 (Safety Code on Mobile Cranes) standards needed
- Certification in lift planning and critical lift assessments required
- Experience in Critical Lift Planning, including creating and reviewing lift plans for complex and critical lifts
- Certification demonstrating understanding of BC OHS Regulations for lifting equipment, site conditions, and operational hazards
- Experience in resource allocation, including personnel and equipment
- Experience with crane management software or project management tools, including AutoCAD, CraneCAD, LiftPlanner, or 3D Lift Plan
- Rigging and signaling certification at level 2 required
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record for the past 2 years required
- Ability to pass a drug test
- Understanding of job site safety procedures
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance on a variety of construction class vehicles
- Willingness to work a variety of shifts

Pay: $115,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
