Thamesview Family Health Team (FHT) provides primary health care, including chronic disease management and health promotion and disease prevention, to a rostered population of patients in the Chatham-Kent region. The FHT utilizes an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals who work in a colllaborative model of care.
Position Summary
The Patient Enrollment & Billing Specialist serves as the organization's primary operational resource for physician enrollment, Family Health Organization (FHO) administration, and physician billing. This role supports patient attachment, physician onboarding, billing operations, Ministry compliance, and operational reporting while working collaboratively with physicians, the Finance department, and leadership. The Patient Enrollment & Billing Specialist will report to the Manager, Quality & Patient Safety.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Enrollment & Rostering
- Coordinate patient enrollment and FHO rostering activities.
- Process Health Care Connect (HCC) referrals and enrollment documentation.
- Support physician panel management and patient attachment initiatives.
- Maintain accurate patient demographic and roster information.
- Assist with physician transitions including recruitment, onboarding, retirement, and locum coverage.
Physician Billing Support
- Support physicians and locums with OHIP and FHO billing.
- Manage physician and locum bill books within TELUS PS Suite.
- Review billing reports and assist with claim reconciliation.
- Support monthly Remittance Advice (RA) processing.
- Collaborate with Finance and Physician leadership to support FHO billing administration, physician cost-sharing activities, and related operational processes.
Operational Reporting
- Prepare operational reports and physician activity data.
- Support Ministry reporting and organizational performance indicators.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and administrative processes.
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Finance, leadership, and external partners.
- Provide exceptional customer service and operational support.
- Participate in organizational initiatives and continuous quality improvement.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Business Administration, Medical Office Administration, Health Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Minimum three (3) years of progressive administrative experience in a healthcare environment.
- Experience with Ontario physician billing, Family Health Organization (FHO), patient enrollment/rostering, or TELUS PS Suite is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
