Description:
Reporting to the Director, Design & Construction Project Management or Senior Project Manager as applicable, the Project Manager is responsible to manage and supervise projects and Project Teams through the project life cycle, including project initiation, planning & design, execution, close-out, monitoring and control. Types of projects may include major and minor capital projects and complex operational building infrastructure projects within Alberta Health Services. The Project Manager specific duties will include, but are not limited to, the management of stakeholder engagement, project communication plans, risk management, project schedules, project procurement and cash flow forecasts and performance. In addition, this position will oversee and manage the contract administration, building and operational commissioning, equipment installation and approval of the project expenditures. The Project Manager makes timely and critical project decisions, provides leadership and expertise, and is directly accountable to ensure that the projects are delivered achieving the project goals of integration, communication, scope, budget, schedule, quality, risk mitigation, stakeholder management and other performance standards to the client’s and the organization’s satisfaction and within a safe working environment.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Project Management (Building Construction) or a Technology Diploma in Architecture, Building or Engineering and/or Journeyman Construction Trade Certificate. A member in good standing with the AAA, APEGGA, ASET or PMP designation associated in the Building Infrastructure Industry. Planning and project management of heath care projects within a fully operating Acute Care facility. Knowledge of applicable provincial, regional and municipal bylaws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures. Knowledge of construction contract law and procurement rules, regulations, and requirements. Ability to read and interpret construction documentation and contracts. Experience working with and/or managing external consultants, contractors, government agencies and regulators. Familiarity with the Alberta Heath Services regions, Alberta Health and/or Alberta Infrastructure. Proven ability to foster partnerships. Proven ability to manage, mentor, motivate and lead team members and stakeholders. Experience within a large, diverse matrix organization. Analytical reasoning and problem solving skills. Knowledge of construction/project management concepts, methods and practices.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills including facilitation and presentation skills. Proven capacity to work well under pressure. Excellent analytical reasoning and problem solving skills. Capacity to achieve organizational goals and project management objectives such as budgets, schedules and service delivery requirements. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional software. Experience with the management of professional and/or unionized staff.

Preferred Qualifications:
7 years in a construction Project Management role in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity.
