Job Overview
The Child and Family Services Case Manager is responsible for delivering holistic, family centered services that promote the safety, wellbeing and healthy development of Frog Lake First Nation Children and Families both on and off reserve in Edmonton, Alberta. The role focuses on assessing family strengths, supporting parental capacity, and the wellbeing of children while ensuring all services align with provincial legislation, DFNA Standards, and ASAM policies and procedures. The Case manager works collaboratively with families to develop meaningful, culturally informed service plans and connects children and families with essential services. The case manager advocates for the best interests of children within both legal and compassionate frameworks. This position requires strong crisis intervention skills, cultural humility, and the ability to navigate high stress and complex situations with sensitivity and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of clients, ensuring timely and effective service delivery.
- Conduct interviews with clients to assess needs and develop personalized plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Perform data entry tasks to update client information and case progress.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
- Utilize strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Support training and development activities for team members to enhance overall service quality.
- Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and external stakeholders in both English and French.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in case management or related roles.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and computer operation proficiency.
- Experience with data entry, record keeping, and managing client information systems.
- Supervising experience or leadership skills are advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Effective interviewing skills with sensitivity to client needs.
- Proven time management abilities to meet deadlines consistently.
- Experience in training & development or presentation skills is a plus.
Education
- Diploma or Degree in:-Social Work (BSW, Social Work Diploma or MSW)
-Child and Youth Care
-Indigenous Social Work or Indigenous Studies with a human services focus.
-Human Services, Community Support Worker, or related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in child protection or family services.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly children and families in crisis.
- Experience working with First Nations Communities, ideally Frog Lake First Nations or Treaty 6 region.
- Strong understanding of intergenerational trauma, Indigenous history, and cultural practices.
