Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanic/ yard hand to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles and equipment to ensure site operations and customer satisfaction needs are met. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and proficiency with hand and power tools. You will play a vital role in minimizing downtime and supporting the overall efficiency of our operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment
- Diagnose mechanical issues using appropriate tools and techniques
- Repair or replace faulty components to restore equipment functionality
- Maintain a class 5 minimum drivers license
- Keep up on inventory needs
- Collaborate with team members in other roles to gain assistance or help others
- Follow safety protocols and ensure a clean, organized work environment
Requirements
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in repairing equipment and vehicles
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools required for various repair tasks
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Prior experience in maintenance or mechanical repair is mandatory
- Must be able to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with the role
The position is not limited to mechanical work. Our repair shop is very slow at times so you might find yourself cutting grass, painting walls or cutting up firewood ext. We only do major repairs on our own fleet. Most of the work is road side in winter and in house in summer. You must have a drivers license to fill this role. Ideal candidates will also have their own vehicle. It is not a requirement but you'll want the ability to leave camp during your time off. If you're called out for repairs and running your own vehicle we will pay for it in addition to your base wage
This a remote job, you will be living and working in Coal River BC. Food, wifi, room and board included.
