United We Can is a Vancouver-based non-profit organization that creates economic opportunities through environmental initiatives for people from marginalized communities in the Downtown Eastside.
Through our free pickup service of refundable beverage containers around Metro Vancouver, we work together with local businesses to make a meaningful impact on the community.
We are seeking a reliable Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating a 3-ton truck with a liftgate to pick up and drop off recycling bins from local businesses efficiently along designated routes. This role requires a strong focus on safety, punctuality, and a commitment to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with all transportation regulations. A Class 5 driver's licence and a clean driving record are required
Duties
- Safely operate a 3-ton truck to pick up and drop off recycling containers to various locations
- Load and unload cargo, often requiring heavy lifting, ensuring proper handling and securement
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and delivery records
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during operations
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding delivery schedules and issues
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical concerns promptly
Experience
- Valid driver’s license class 5 with a clean driving record
- Proven experience operating heavy-duty trucks or similar vehicles
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as part of loading/unloading processes
- Strong driving skills with a focus on safety and adherence to traffic laws
- Knowledge of route planning and navigation tools is advantageous
Schedule
- 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Wednesday through Saturday & Monday (Sunday and Tuesday off)
- Overtime as required
Expected start date: Immediately
