Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and flexible On Call/Summer Support staff to assist with educational activities and childcare during the summer months and on an as-needed basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about working with children and interested in early childhood education. The position involves supporting classroom activities, engaging with students, and providing a positive learning environment. Ideal candidates are reliable, nurturing, and eager to contribute to a dynamic educational setting. Summer Time Hours will be close to or at full time hours. Fall/Winter will be on call as needed with the potential to move into full time if staffing needs require.
Duties
- Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing educational activities tailored to early childhood development
- Support classroom management and ensure a safe, inclusive environment for children
- Engage children in tutoring and teaching activities to reinforce learning concepts
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, ensuring safety at all times
- Help set up materials and clean up after activities to maintain an organized classroom
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to support student progress and well-being
- Adapt to varying schedules and responsibilities based on program needs during the summer or on call
Qualifications
- Level 2 or 3 is preferred
- First Aid and Vulnerable Sector is required
- Previous experience in daycare settings with ages 12month-6 years is preferred
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a caring demeanor
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work on short notice or during scheduled summer hours
- Must be reliable, responsible, and committed to creating a positive experience for children
Compensation:
$23.00-$25.00/hr - Not including top up
