HCS Contracting Ltd. is growing! HCS is based out of Cambridge but we are expanding into eastern Ontario. We require an energetic, motivated and career-minded Construction Manager who will be responsible for all aspects of project management for clients in Kingston, Belleville and surrounding areas. This job will be remote to start with the exception of visiting client sites for quoting purposes.
Duties/responsibilities:
- Overseeing the life cycle of construction projects
- Performing identification of resources needed
- Ensuring that construction activities move according to predetermined schedules
- Communicating effectively with contractors responsible for completing various phases of projects
- Updating the scheduling department regarding the status of each active job
- Managing completion requests, tenant occupancy and project close out dates
- Monitoring the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and holding regular status meetings with all sub-contractor teams to assess deficiencies
- Maintaining a strong rapport with clients
- Adhering to budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards
- Obtaining appropriate approvals for any extra work required due to unforeseen site conditions before proceeding with any additional work
- Performing regular inspection of construction sites and making modifications as necessary
- Ensuring project documents are complete and every site is walked through and signed off with no defective work
- Confirm that all signed off work is submitted to accounts receivable in a timely manner
Requirements:
- Completion of a Construction, Building Technology or Architectural Technology Diploma
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and plans
- A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques
- Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills
- Commitment to working in a team environment, with established team building abilities
- Strong communication, leadership, integration, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work safely in a construction environment
- A demonstrated track record of dealing successfully with customers
- Results-oriented individual with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and time lines
- Knowledge of OH&S regulations and related building codes
- Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Possess a valid drivers license with a clean driver's abstract
- A truck is required to deliver product/materials to various sites
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.)
- Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines

Salary: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
