SAIT's Business Intelligence and Analytics department supports the institution with market intelligence and business analysis. Our unique in-house research team, through consultation and the study of industry changes, labour markets and SAIT's programming and products, helps inform essential business decisions.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Initiatives in Business Intelligence and Analytics, this position supports institutional leadership by providing senior level research, analysis and insights. The incumbent will act as a partner with key stakeholders across the institution to ensure stakeholder needs are met with accurate and appropriate research and analysis. Key areas of focus include program, student and economic analysis to support institutional and academic planning. Critical thinking and communication skills as well as analytical skills are essential for this role.

The Role
Execute and deliver complex confidential research and analysis in areas including but not limited to: 1) Student outcomes, student feedback, program effectiveness, business efficiencies, and institutional services. 2) The impact of labour market and economic trends on institutional and program strategies. 3) Benchmarking and performance monitoring.
Conduct competitive scans and market scans as they relate to post-secondary education to identify market and industry needs and assist with development of new SAIT program offerings.
Develop research methodologies to enhance understanding of program effectiveness and issues arising in post-secondary education and the labour market.
Provide consultative support for academic leadership in program quality assessment and monitoring, working closely with clients to define information needs and translate research and analysis into actionable insights.
Contribute to initiatives, such as by conducting workshops and information sessions, to integrate the use of business intelligence into SAIT's academic schools and business units, ensuring that student information and research is leveraged to maximum capacity.
Assist and mentor other research analysts with BI and assessment projects.
Represent the department on committees within SAIT and on external committees as required.
Maintain currency in the field of higher education issues by researching emerging trends in the sector.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree with an emphasis on analytical thinking is required. Preference for those with courses in data analysis, market research, statistical analysis, economics or social sciences.
5 years related experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment.
Experience with research projects and analysis in a cross-disciplinary environment.
Extensive experience and creativity in report creation and presentation of data to various audiences.
Skills Required
Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
Strong critical thinking capabilities to analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and reconstruct information to inform and make reasoned decisions and judgments.
Strong professional judgement to ensure relevance and accuracy of information delivered to decision-makers.

Creative approach to translating information into knowledge with a willingness to experiment, improvise, innovate and imagine.
