OVERVIEW
Lauren Services is looking for an Instrumentation Engineer. Reporting to the Director, EI&C, this position can be in either Calgary or Vancouver. ACCOUNTABILITIES
May include but are not limited to:
- Audit industrial facility sites and develop engineering designs and estimates for instrumentation upgrades
- Correctly size and specify instrumentation, flow meters, control valves and analyzers for their process applications
- Review vendor quotations and documentation to ensure appropriate instrument application and prepare technical bid assessment spreadsheets for award recommendation to purchase
- Prepare and evaluate tender and construction packages, including instrumentation design drawings, installation specifications, and other supporting documentation
- Participate in the development of control narratives, logic diagrams, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), instrument indexes, instrument data sheets and instrument loop diagrams
- Provide technical installation direction to construction contractors and/or site maintenance and operations personnel
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor or master’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering from an accredited institution
- 3-5 years of formal training and experience in engineering design or EPCM projects in the oil and gas or related industry
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a professional engineer in either BC and AB, licenses in both an asset
- Formal exposure and experience in instrumentation technology would be an asset
- Project Engineering experience would be an asset
SKILLS
- Experience working with PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and network systems
- Experience in the selection and application of instrumentation and control equipment
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Excellent computer skills including use of engineering and computer software for control valve, PSV and flow meter sizing and selection
- Experience in the Application of Smart Plant Instrumentation (Intools) software would be an asset
- Knowledge and experience applying codes and standards such as CSA, CEC, API, ASME and ISA (International Society of Automation) familiarity in the application of these codes and standards, as well as acceptable industry practices would be an asset
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be capable of interacting with all engineering disciplines, especially in a project team environment
- Must have excellent communication skills and be capable of interacting with peers, project managers, site managers and clients
- Familiarity with other aspects of project design including DBMs, project plans and scheduling in terms of Instrumentation input would be an asset.
