As a Full-Time Behaviour Support Worker for our Special Needs therapeutic program located in Langley, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that provides support, care, and mentorship to young adults (ages 19-30) with special needs in a therapeutic home setting. This line is 40 hours/week, Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-7pm shifts.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Psychology, ECE, ABA, Social Services, or related field and/or equivalent experience working with young adults with special needs
Experience and understanding of mental health and challenging behaviours
Experience working with adults with behavioural, social, emotional and mental health/psychiatric issues and Autism spectrum disorders
Strong in setting and maintaining firm boundaries with persons supported
Ability to follow behaviour support plans and implement personal protocols, schedules, and activities
Experience working with high anxiety is beneficial
Experience in Functional Communication Request and Delay Training (My Way) is an asset
Effective de-escalation and crisis management skills
Clear and concise written and verbal communication
Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check
Minimum BC Class 7N driver's license (Class 5 preferred) and acceptable driving record
Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination record or exemption from the provincial health authority

Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
Bringing the supported individual into the community alone
Building positive working relationships with the client, family, community members, and other professionals involved in the care team
Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting appropriate boundaries
Engaging in frequent interaction with clients, using appropriate means of communication
Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
Attending school meetings and case conferences when required
Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication, assisting clients with self-care as needed
Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and care plans
Salary: $21.68-$23.50/hour plus benefits
