Job Summary:
A great opportunity for a motivated recent graduate to join a team of dedicated designers in the development of electrical/electronic systems for Versatile's next generation of heavy-duty agricultural machinery. In this role, you will be exposed to projects from start to finish and receive assignments in all phases of development, from concept and design to integration and testing. We take a hands-on approach to design, so expect to spend time away from your desk working directly with prototype vehicles.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Electrical design, development and system integration, including but not limited to high voltage power distribution, low voltage power distribution and electrical harness design.
- Create and maintain documentation associated with projects including product and component specifications, functional block diagrams and detailed electrical schematics.
- Working closely with design team members in 3D CAD environment to create routed wire harness assemblies that integrate electrical/electronic systems with hydraulics, structures and mechanical systems.
- Research and evaluate components and systems for compliance to technical product demands, product safety requirements, market regulations, relevant industry standards.
- Conduct hazards analysis and risk assessment as part of functional safety of design
- Provide support in diagnosis and troubleshooting of prototype vehicles and electronic assemblies using test equipment.
- Macro programming and scripting of electrical and 3D CAD tools to automate repetitive data entry tasks.
Education/Certifications
- Degree/Diploma Electrical/Electronics/Computer engineering discipline
- Registered or eligible for registration with EGM/CTTAM
Required Experience/Abilities
- Proven ability to meet a deadline/successful completion of deliverables
- Adaptable to a dynamic environment and able to multi-task
- Can work well with others in a team environment and communicate effectively
- Applied learning capability with interests shown in vehicle electrification, automation and control
- Hands on experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, meters, analyzers, data loggers etc.)
- Previous experience working with electrical CAD software to produce wiring diagrams
Desired Experience
- Design experience in mobile/self-propelled equipment
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical/electronics, electric motors, data busses including CAN bus(SAE J1939), ISOBUS (ISO 11783)
- Knowledge of DFMEA (SAE J1739), functional safety (ISO 25119, 26262)
- Knowledge of related industry standards, safety and compliance
- Schematic capture and form board design with Zuken E3
- 3D modelling and 2D assembly drawing creation in Autodesk Inventor
- Version control systems (Autodesk Vault, Git)
- Scripting and macros (Python, C#) applied to Zuken E3 task automation
- Embedded programming (C/C++) applied to ECU analog and digital IO, CAN bus communication
