YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
As a member of the corporate Business Strategy & Technical Services Group, the Corporate Director - Metallurgy will provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of metallurgical and mineral processing operations best practices to limit operational and HSEC (Health, Safety, Environment and Community) risks, while providing guidance in the pursuit of continuous performance improvement company-wide.

As a member of the Technical Corporate Team (TCT), the incumbent will act as a guardian of technical risk, providing metallurgical process support and process guidance to both operations and project development at various stages of project evaluation ensuring the organization both meets and exceeds specific and overall milling performances.

The incumbent will work closely with regional management and technical services across the organization.

Responsibilities:
Ensure AEM Standards and best practices are implemented, followed and disseminated company-wide;

Support the Budget / LOM / ELOM processes performing technical and financial reviews of each operational site’s plans and strategy, creating value for AEM;

Participate in the development of a medium- and long-term strategic plan for process and milling optimization including benchmarking activities;

Provide guidance on metallurgical best practices;

Perform site visits as required (3-4 visits per site, per year);

Proactively identify innovative research and metallurgical development programs;

Ensure proper metallurgical accounting practices are in place;

Contribute to project evaluation at various reviews go / no-go stages;

Ensure best practices are implemented related to Gold Security;

Provide expertise and participate in review committees for project evaluation and studies;

Additional duties as required.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in either Metallurgical / Mineral Processing /Chemical Engineering;

Strong metallurgical background and 10-15 years of operating experience;

Project development experience is an asset;

Fluent in English;
A motivated self-starter with good analytical, problem solving, planning and decision-making and influencing skills;

Committed to the highest safety and environmental standards and the application of relevant legislation, codes and company standards;

Agility with financial concepts and calculations such as required by various studies levels;

Consensus builder and team worker;

Experience in a leadership role;

Strong communication skills;
Experience working with precious metals;

Knowledge of French and Spanish language, written and spoken, an asset;

Availability to travel internationally to Agnico’s Operations.
