The Operations Transit Inspector/Dispatcher will maintain, govern, and provide effective, efficiently running routes for the Customer and will supply accurate data for our route and charter operators.
He/she should demonstrate and encourage a “Safety First” lifestyle at the location.
The incumbent will assign operators to routes according to the location operating procedures for bidding and extra board management and will ensure each operator has accurate route and passenger information.
He/she will also be responsible for driver discipline, and reporting, tracking and documenting daily events.
Maintain Operator work records and ensure time sheets and payroll summaries are completed accurately.
Receive requests for emergency assistance and act according to the Region’s Emergency Response Plan.
Responsible for ensuring On-Time Departures and coordinate the changing of vehicles due to malfunctions.
Relate complaints immediately to on-street Transit Inspectors.
Ensure that all buses are out/in to meet Peak and Off-Peak service requirements.
Incorporate into route plan factors such as peak travel periods, holidays, special events, and construction with emphasis on time and cost efficiency.
The Transit Inspector/Dispatcher will be responsible for other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must possess a valid drivers license (BZ License is an asset) with clean driver’s abstract.
He/she must be extremely flexible and have the ability to learn quickly in a fast paced environment.
The candidate must be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
They should be professional in all that they do yet be able to handle difficult situations and people.
Previous work in a union environment would be preferred.
This job requires the ability to effectively and coherently communicate in the English language with customers and others in the course of duties including comprehension of written instructions, policies and procedures, and completion of any required written reports and forms.
Above average computer skills are required as is knowledge of the transit system (e.g. routes)
Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational and customer service skills are mandatory
