Torus Talent is supporting a well-established, multi-discipline engineering consultancy in their search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Calgary based team.
This firm delivers engineering solutions across complex heavy industrial and oil & gas projects, ranging from brownfield upgrades and retrofits to full-scale facility expansions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering mechanical and piping design solutions across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage design through to commissioning and start-up. - Lead and support mechanical and piping design for oil & gas and heavy industrial projects
- Develop and review P&IDs and mechanical design deliverables
- Perform equipment sizing and specification for pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, and other mechanical systems
- Support piping design, including material selection, layout input, and coordination with stress and design teams
- Prepare engineering deliverables including datasheets, equipment specifications, line lists, and construction work packages
- Review vendor documents and support procurement activities
- Provide field support, including construction support, commissioning, and system start-up
- Participate in design reviews and constructability assessments
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, electrical, and project management
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- P.Eng. designation (APEGA) required
- 10+ years of consulting engineering experience within oil & gas or heavy industrial environments
- Strong experience with pressure equipment and piping systems
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, CSA)
- Experience supporting projects across design, procurement, and construction phases
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems within industrial facilities
- Ability to work independently and manage project scopes with minimal oversight
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Established and reputable engineering consultancy with a strong presence in the energy sector
- Exposure to a wide variety of projects across brownfield and greenfield environments
- Full project lifecycle involvement from concept through commissioning
