Position Summary

Big Rock Brewery is seeking an energetic, highly organized, and self-directed individual to complement our social media team supporting our Big Rock Vancouver location for about 5 to 10 hours per week. Based in Vancouver, this role will be taking functional direction from the National Social Media Specialist while reporting to the Manager, Advertising & Digital in our Marketing department. The successful candidate will be a beer fan focused on building customer engagement by strategically executing the social media marketing roadmap.

This role will seek to advance Big Rock Brewery’s mission locally and regionally while supporting the strategic direction and planned growth of our Vancouver based operations. If you are keen to learn the ins and outs of how a brewery functions and want the opportunity to wear many different hats – all with a specific goal to increase brand awareness – we want to hear from you. You’ll coordinate initiatives that are already in place and offer new creative ideas to the organization. This position, while centered around our Big Rock Vancouver location, is ideal for someone who excels working remotely, and enjoys being creative and taking the initiative.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute paid and organic social media strategy for Big Rock Vancouver and Tree Brewing Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram channels
  • Create weekly social media calendar based on products, restaurant events, specials, and other business support needs
  • Develop engaging day to day social media content (photos, videos, copy)
  • Monitor social media feeds, ensuring cohesive visual brand, writing style and voice
  • Respond to and manage inquiries on all social channels in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with marketing team and subject matter experts to determine appropriate strategy for responses on social media
  • Execute the organization’s social media strategy with the goal of building relationships with customers/consumers
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of social media efforts and communicate results back to the business through frequent reporting
  • Work collaboratively to build cross-functional relationships with other areas of the business (restaurant and retail staff, sales force, brewers, etc.) to create regionally relevant communication to our consumers

Candidate requirements:

  • In progress or post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or other relevant field
  • Min 1 year experience in managing social media marketing, and content/editorial creation is considered an asset
  • Experience coordinating social media platforms for marketing and communication purposes (including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)
  • Passion, energy, and enthusiasm for social media
  • Detailed knowledge and expertise around all social platforms
  • Excellent and demonstrable writing skills
  • Photography/videography and editing skills are an asset
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in social media
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, and team player with a positive and professional approach
  • Strong writing, copy editing, proofreading skills are essential
  • Capability to visit Big Rock Vancouver on a regular basis, and attend events as required to capture and post content
  • High degree of problem-solving abilities, creativity, and attention to detail
  • Proven time and organizational management skills
  • Flexibility with changes in task and priorities along with using sound judgment
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and moral standards
  • Able to represent the organization in a professional manner
  • Ability to learn a new social media management and online listening tool
