Health Information Analyst

As Systems Analyst, you spearhead the improvement of our EMR system towards full digitization and automation, with the objective of enabling the company to go paperless.

Your responsibilities will include researching, identifying, recommending and implementing system improvements and automation; eliminating duplications and inefficiencies; training staff members and serving as their first point of contact for needs and wants towards process improvement; and developing a physician menu for different types of appointments (intake, OB, CM, etc.).

Also, you will liaise with our external IT service provider and work with external consultants to effect changes as needed. Mandatory for this role are a full appreciation of confidentiality and a proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.

Practically speaking, you will:
  • Reduce cost by automating manual processes, putting structured systems in place and eliminating paper
  • Develop workflow process in accordance to college regulations, privacy standards and digital information laws and regulations
  • Analyze and collect patient health information
  • Conversion of data to reportable, analyzable data to improve workflow process
  • Identify deficiencies and areas of improvement to supervisor
  • Ensure patient care systems are used in accordance to college regulations through analysis of audit trail reports
  • Improve productivity by making systems faster, more reliable and more secure
  • Develop and implement digitization protocols or workflows for each process
  • Identify equipment needs and present recommendations to supervisor
  • Collaborate with Department Heads to determine priorities and report on progress
  • Collaborate effectively and positively with management and coworkers
  • Recommend software and software upgrades to streamline processes
  • Implement systems and system upgrades at head office and other Anova locations
  • Liaise with IT service provider and EMR vendors on updates, upgrades and other software changes
  • Recognize patterns in problems staff members face and prevent future occurrences
  • Carefully document and update processes and procedures for other technicians’ reference and enable analysis
  • Ensure that records are current, correct, legible, traceable and in accordance with Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
  • Comply with Anova policies and standards, including health and safety
  • Write clearly and informatively and edits work for spelling and grammar
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of records

Working with Anova Fertility

This is a full-time permanent position, five days per week, but flexibility on evenings and weekends will be required to meet deadlines and facilitate smooth, continuous operation of the clinic.

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent, preferably related to computer technology
  • At least 3 years’ experience in similar roles, working with Accuro EMR software
  • Advanced understanding of operating systems, applications and networks
  • Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office programs and use of internet
  • Experience working with electronic medical records systems preferred
  • Solid communication skills and pleasant telephone manner
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to switch tasks and ensure that all initiatives move forward in timely fashion
  • Track record of protecting company by maintaining confidentiality
  • Strong organization skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Understanding of how various functions rely on each other’s performance
  • Valid Ontario ‘G’ driver’s license and access to vehicle
