Heavy Equipment Mechanic
South 40 Mechanical Inc. is a new mechanical facility proudly servicing Grande Prairie and surrounding area. We specialize in commercial and light-duty vehicles and are building a strong team focused on quality work, safety, and supporting one another. We are currently looking for a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our growing team. This position is typically Monday to Friday, with rotating on-call weekends and occasional overtime as needed.
What You’ll Do:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, transmission, gas, and diesel engine issues
- Perform preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and light-duty vehicles
- Complete CVIP inspections and repairs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company safety standards and procedures
- Complete service documentation and communicate unresolved issues to leadership
- Support field staff and assist with overtime when required
- Mentor and support apprentice mechanics
- Perform other related duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
- Journeyman Heavy Equipment Mechanic certification required
- Minimum 3 years of heavy-duty mechanical experience
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
- Experience working with diesel engines, transmissions, and related systems
- Comfortable using diagnostic software, computerized systems, and tablets
- Truck and trailer repair experience required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Safety-focused with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and heavy lifting
- Basic personal tool set required
Assets Considered an Advantage:
- Experience with Cummins, Paccar, Detroit, CAT, and MTU engines
- Hydraulics experience
- Welding, frame repair, and tank repair experience
- CVIP License required
