Olsonfab Metal Fabrication is seeking qualified candidates to fill our Welder/Fitter and Field Erector/Welder positions. The Welder/Fitter position is responsible for shop fabrication, fitting, and welding of custom metal projects, while the Field Erector/Welder position performs structural steel erection, on-site installation, and field welding at project locations. Welder/Fitter
Key Responsibilities
- Work in a shop fabrication and industrial manufacturing environment.
- Cut pipe using saws, pipe cutters, and cutting torches.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
- Perform welding using appropriate processes and techniques.
- Select suitable welding methods for various alloys and materials.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in proper working condition.
- Ensure work meets quality and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Experience welding SMAW (Stick).
- Experience welding GMAW (MIG).
- Experience welding GTAW (TIG) is considered an asset.
- CWB Flat, Horizontal, Vertical, and Overhead certifications are considered an asset.
- Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work efficiently in varying temperature conditions.
- Physically fit and capable of climbing, squatting, kneeling, and performing overhead work.
Field Erector/Welder
Key Responsibilities
- Erect structural steel, joists, decking, and miscellaneous metals.
- Perform field welding (SMAW/FCAW) to applicable standards.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and erection plans.
- Bolt-up, align, and plumb structural components.
- Install stairs, railings, embeds, and custom fabrications.
- Work safely at heights using approved fall protection systems.
- Operate lifts, telehandlers, and rigging equipment.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, crane operators, and other trades.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Travel to project sites as required and work in outdoor conditions year-round.
Qualifications
- Experience in structural steel erection and/or field welding.
- Experience welding SMAW; FCAW experience is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and erection plans.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety practices.
- Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Physically fit and able to handle heavy materials.
- CWB welding certification is an asset and may be obtained if qualified.

- Valid CWB certifications.
- Valid Telehandler and/or Aerial Lift certifications.
