Millwright – Job Description
Job Summary: We are hiring a Millwright for our food manufacturing client in London! This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The successful candidate will lead preventative maintenance activities, minimize downtime, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate cross-functionally to optimize plant performance and support production goals.
Job Type: Full-time, permanent. 100% on-site.

Shift Structure: Straight Night Shift (Sunday-Thursday)
Compensation Structure: $43.00/hour + ($2.00/hour premium being on nights).
Responsibilities:
· Install, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, fixtures, controls, and production machinery.
· Diagnose equipment issues, determine root causes of failures, and complete repairs using appropriate testing and diagnostic tools.
· Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance activities to support equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
· Develop, implement, and manage a preventive maintenance program to ensure optimal plant performance.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records, inspection logs, and service documentation.
· Test electrical systems and verify continuity of circuits, wiring, equipment, and fixtures to ensure safe and effective operation.Drive continuous improvement initiatives including downtime tracking, line efficiency monitoring, equipment performance analysis, and other operational metrics.
· Identify opportunities to reduce operating costs and improve production efficiency through process enhancements and new technologies.
· Support autonomous maintenance practices, including cleaning standards, preventative countermeasures, and maintaining equipment in optimal condition.
· Conduct inspections of equipment, systems, and facilities to ensure compliance with organizational policies and all applicable provincial and federal safety regulations and codes.
· Participate in health and safety initiatives, including contributing as part of the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC).
· Lead and support maintenance-related projects including line expansions, new equipment installations, packaging improvements, and process optimization initiatives.
· Analyze performance deviations on critical production equipment and implement corrective actions.
· Train and support operators, maintenance personnel, and apprentices on equipment operation, start-up procedures, maintenance practices, and safety expectations.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with production and operations teams to support plant goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Complete additional maintenance and operational improvement projects as required.
Skills/Qualifications:
· Licensed Millwright (433A) with processing line experience; food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
· Minimum 8 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, with strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, systems, and production processes.
· Experience supporting production line filling operations for products such as sauces, dips, soups, condiments, soft drinks, juices, or similar food and beverage products.
· Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, boilers, HVAC systems, and welding practices.
· Proven experience performing routine, preventative, and predictive maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment.
· Experience working within Continuous Improvement environments, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) initiatives.
· Experience conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to drive operational improvements.
· Experience with BRC and/or AIB food audits is considered an asset.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
· Strong understanding of safe operating procedures and manufacturing safety standards.
· Experience managing spare parts inventory and supporting maintenance planning initiatives.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles with a focus on 5S practices.
· Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
· Computer proficiency and comfort using maintenance and production systems.
· Fluent in English; Spanish language skills are considered an asset.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work including standing, bending, crouching, and extended periods of movement.
· Minimal travel required.
