To be responsible for planned preventive maintenance of rooms and equipment and the effective prioritization/completion of daily maintenance requests working within the department budget and contributing to guest satisfaction and safe and cost-effective running of the property as required by company policy. Will perform a range of general lawn maintenance duties, including maintaining the landscape design and working with heavy-duty equipment. This is a full-time, unionized position, Tuesday-Saturday.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
· To plan and carry out preventive maintenance throughout the property (inside and outside) to ensure standards are maintained for guest comfort and the safe and efficient running of all equipment, as required by company policy and in the line with the maintenance budget.
· To prioritize and carry out maintenance as requested by departments on a daily basis to ensure the smooth running of the property.
· To record meter readings and liaise with the Maintenance Manager and Assistant Maintenance Manager regarding improved energy conservation as required by company policy.
· To be responsible for the testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting etc. on a routine basis as required by company policy.
· To liaise with the Maintenance Manager regarding use of contractors within the property, controlling expenditure and ensuring work is to the standard required by company policy.
· To ensure the cost effective and hygienic removal of garbage from the property in line with company policy.
· To be on call to carry out emergency maintenance work outside of normal working hours, as required by property policy.
· To maintain records of repair work, testing work and daily checks as required by law and by company policy.
· To liaise closely with Front Desk and Housekeeping regarding “down” rooms in order to maximize on profitability.
· To maintain curb appeal of the property with planning and implementation of activities laid down in the 12 month rolling Grounds Plan and agreed Budget.
· To ensure the safe and hygienic upkeep of the swimming pool using all chemicals in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and health and safety regulations achieving safe and cost effective cleaning procedures.
· To carry out/ensure completion of janitorial duties, heavy duty cleaning, and/or meeting room set up/service in accordance with Standards and Procedures Manuals.
· To carry out other tasks as required and requested by hotel managers.
· Seasonal work: Landscaping/Sprinklers – Snow removal.
· Will be ensure the growth and vibrancy of our plants, flowers, lawn and garden structures.
· Removing weeds and dead plants.
· Other tasks as required
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bilingual (French & English) an asset
· Must have a minimum of 6-12 months customer service experience
· Must have a minimum of 6-12 months building maintenance
· Ability to grasp, bend, stoop, push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 75 lbs
· Adhere to and knowledgeable of Health & Safety practices
· Correct and proper use of chemicals based WHMIS standards
· Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time and with purpose and urgency
· Attention to details
· Carry out preventative maintenance throughout the property
· Picking up garbage from areas including the exterior perimeter of the property
· Use & care of equipment
· Landscaping & Snow removal around property
· General repairs, painting, plumbing, minor electrical knowledge
· Adhere to all Company, hotel & departmental policies & SOPs

· Must have the ability to work & communicate verbally & in writing in a professional manner to guests and staff
· Must have the ability to express themselves diplomatically with staff and guests
· Must be able to work & concentrate in a high volume area
· Must be efficient, well-organized and able to handle multiple tasks
· Liaise with Housekeeping & Front Office regularly
