What You’ll Be Doing
The Manager of Corporate Accounting will support the Director of Accounting and VP, Finance in managing the day-to-day operations of the finance function for the organization. This is a key leadership role within the finance team, ensuring financial statements are accurate, compliant with accounting standards, and delivered on time.
We’re looking for a collaborative, hands-on professional who enjoys being involved in the details, isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves, and is eager to learn. Success in this role will come from a combination of technical capability, initiative, adaptability, and a genuine desire to contribute and gain new skills.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close:
- Support the complete accounting cycle: journal entries, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, account reconciliations & compiling working papers
- Support the Controller with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements, including year-end audit files and financial statement support for auditor review
- Support consistent application of accounting policies and internal controls across accounts and financial reporting activities
- Utilize systems for banking, payroll, fixed assets, or expense reporting
Accounting Operations:
- Ensure compliance with ASPE, HST/GST regulations, corporate taxation & other with CRA requirements
- Assist with external and internal audit and preparation of working papers
- Document internal controls, processes & procedures, company policies, and applicable accounting standards across day-to-day accounting activities
- Liaise with auditors, lawyers, CRA and other third parties
- Participate in the operating budget process
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement efficiencies in accounting processes and systems
- Lead or support ERP system upgrades and financial system projects
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation (CPA Canada) required or nearly complete
- 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of ASPE and Canadian tax regulations
- Experience with CRA compliance, HST/GST filings, and payroll remittances
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., CSD, Concur, F9) and advanced excel skills
- Experience in manufacturing or distribution (preferred)
- Experience working in a multi-divisional and multi-branch environment (preferred)
