Sanimax is looking for an Environment and R&D Process Engineer for its Canadian facilities.

The Environment and R&D Process Engineer is responsible for several environmental projects related to air and wastewater treatment in the different districts of Sanimax. He is also involved in numerous R&D projects in various sectors, which includes conducting trials on manufacturing processes and being part of the scientific research and experimental development program. In addition, he uses his expertise to improve environmental processes through data analysis, new control strategies, latest technologies as well as equipment installations or modifications. He designs environmental process equipment and control systems with a thorough understanding of equipment functions and reactions that take place.

The Environment and R&D Process Engineer will:
Act as Project Manager and technical resource for the environmental processes related to air and wastewater treatment:

Provide direct engineering design support for capital projects, equipment modifications and plant improvements;
Design environmental equipment and processes, and carry out the preliminary and detailed engineering of various improvement projects;
Maintain thorough engineering standards for project execution, design, equipment standards, safety, timeline and cost control;
Write functional descriptions for process control to ensure equipment efficiency and safety;
Implement projects.
Study, analyze, perform trials, and recommend and implement modifications to environmental processes in order to:

Ensure the compliance and reliability of environmental processes;
Increase treatment efficiency, minimize waste and/or reduce costs;
Ensure that all aspects of an operation or process comply with applicable regulations and that reports to be submitted to relevant authorities comply with requirements;
Support and participate in plant problem solving and troubleshooting;
Perform trials to optimize processes and establish operating parameters and different modes of operation;
Draft and/or validate training manuals, work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOP’s), and provide training on topics related to environmental processes.
Participate in various innovative projects and act as the main technical lead for the scientific research and experimental development program (SR&ED):

Manage the SR&ED program;
Lead or take part in innovative R&D projects (e.g., water and air treatment study project, investigation and research project to solve issues on the processing lines, could also be called to support product development projects);
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Education:
Bachelor degree in chemical or environmental engineering, or other related field; or
Equivalent work experience;
OIQ member (an asset).

Knowledge and experience:
Practical experience (design and operation) and understanding of air and wastewater treatment systems;
Knowledge of multivariable techniques for the design of experimental plans, the drafting of test plans and reports, and the implementation of process modifications;
Proven experience in developing process control strategies and writing functional descriptions;
Understanding of process diagrams, P&ID, 3D representations, spatial orientation;
Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office, OSI-PI, MS-Project, data analysis and simulation software, AutoCad, Visio, etc.);
Understanding of steam supply and/or steam boiler systems, and the control of air emissions originating from combustion (an asset);
Education and/or work experience in lean manufacturing & Six Sigma (an asset);
More than five years of experience in environmental record management;
Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment involving manufacturing processes.
