Associate Insurance Advisor


The Associate Insurance Advisor is a key player in the support and development of the agency operation primarily through the sales and service of The Co-operators personal lines products (auto, home and commercial insurance) and may provide some support for additional product lines (farm, investing and life)

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Sales, service and profitable growth of personal lines insurance products
  • Advise and recommend coverages and policies that best meet client needs
  • Prospect and cross sell by identifying and recommending additional products/services that benefit the client
  • Complete front line risk assessment and selection following underwriting guidelines
  • Identify which risks require inspections and re-inspections. May be required to complete inspections.
  • Achieve individual goals for client service, sales, quality and productivity
  • Support programs to build multi-client relationships
  • Respond to client questions and concerns, resolve customer complaints and escalate issues appropriately.
  • May provide administrative support including ordering supplies, bank deposits, maintaining office records

Working Conditions:

Regular office environment. May be required to work flexible hours. May require occasional travel outside the office. Group Benefits available.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • General Insurance License OTL is required.
  • Meet all provincial-licensing requirements in accordance with continuing education in order to obtain and maintain all licenses
  • Three (3) year sales and service experience or related business experience is preferred
  • Knowledge or experience with selling techniques is preferred
  • Knowledge of auto and property insurance products is required, Life or Mutual Fund license an asset.
  • Skilled in communication (verbal and written), organization, time management, client service, decision making
  • Candidate must be comfortable in a technology dependent environment including proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license may be required

  • Skill in evaluation and underwriting of risks as measured by audits and adherence to underwriting guidelines
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of new business applications and paperwork as measured by audits and feedback
  • Work independently and effectively use and apply the resources available
  • Achievement of individual sales goals and contribution to achievement of the agency goals
  • Contribution to achievement of multi-line client targets
  • Ongoing focus on personal and professional development

  • Associate Insurance Advisors are the face of the organization to our clients
