WORK LOCATION/ HOURS:
Our base of operations is located out of Vandorf, On. Full time employment *40hrs/ week minimum.
PAY:
Junior Arborist
$25 to 33/hr. Wage negotiable and can be based on experience and attitude.
PRIMARY POSITION DUTIES:
Junior Arborist
- Consistently arrives to work on time and is prepared for the day’s work
- Completes circle check of vehicle and attaching truck to the chipper prior to leaving the yard
- Proficient in backing up trailers
- Responsible in wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment
- Participates in communicating with crew roles and responsibilities with jobsite priorities
- Able to identify a tree’s hazards and jobsite hazardous prior to climbing
- Able to identify variety species of tree
- Proven knowledge in ascending the tree using rope and safety saddle, lifelines. Attaches lines to affected limb or wood, cuts and lowers limb/wood working in conjunction with assigned crew and equipment, i.e. chipper and truck. Chips and cuts fallen trees.
- Inspects trims and prunes trees.
- Performs outlined tasks while under supervision of the Senior Arborist such as tree surgery outlined in work orders e.g. pruning, bracing, stump grinding and marking work-site for public safety
- Assists in tree planting operations, operating trucks and equipment to plant, stake and tie trees.
- Formally educated with the safe use of a chainsaw and is competent with proficient use
- Responsible in wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment.
- Understands the importance of safe work practices.
- Operates brush chippers 38hp stump grinders, and a variety of power tools i.e. chainsaws, hedge trimmers, backpack blowers. Ensures all equipment is safely maintained and operated, checks on a daily basis and performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs.
- Able to maintain a positive attitude throughout the day and able to work well with others
- Understands how to be prepared for/and work in any weather conditions as they arise
- Understands the importance of safe work practices and a thorough clean-up
- Performs additional similar and related duties as assigned..
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Junior Arborist
- Required Valid "D" class non-probationary Ontario classdriver’s license and owns reliable transportation
- Proficient in backing up trailers and wood chippers
- Confident/ competent in operating machinery such as stump grinders
- 0-2 year(s) of experience in arboriculture or formal training in climbing techniques from an affiliated college
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with a positive attitude
