** Internal Job Title: Payroll Analyst
What you will do
- Analyze payroll data and support the Accounting team with various requests.
- Support the Payroll team throughout the payroll cycle to ensure data accuracy, system configuration integrity, and legislative compliance.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of various third-party remittances.
- Lead year-end payroll activities, including annual reconciliations, preparation of tax slips, and participation in reporting to government health and safety agencies (e.g., CNESST, WCB, WHCS).
- Provide training and guidance to stakeholders involved in the payroll process, including superintendents and project managers.
- Take ownership of resolving complex payroll issues, act as a payroll subject matter expert, and provide recommendations that consider business needs, existing applications, and process impacts.
- Deliver high-quality customer service to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement payroll system changes, including updates related to collective agreement provisions.
- Stay current on legislative changes and payroll best practices.
- Support the Payroll Coordinator with analysis and the execution of special projects and ad hoc requests (e.g., external audits, government inquiries).
This role could be for you if you have
- Diploma of College Studies (DEC) or Attestation of College Studies (AEC) in Accounting.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation from the National Payroll Institute.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in the full-cycle payroll process.
- Advanced English proficiency.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems and payroll process implementation. Solid understanding of systems and data flows, with the ability to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Detail-oriented, accurate, and highly organized.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage priorities.
