Service manager
Overview:
TransWestern Truck Centres in Calgary is seeking a full-time service manager to support primarily Mack Trucks in our Mack dealership. We also work on all makes of trucks, and operate a small lease & rental fleet which is managed by this position.
We are looking for someone to join our service team to provide leadership, direction and support to drive dealership gross profit, volume and customer satisfaction standards.
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the general manager, you will maintain staff levels adequate to managing current and future business needs. Also maintaining a high degree of employee productivity through effective training and motivation.
You will maximize the return on investment in buildings and equipment, human resources and support systems while meeting or exceeding customer expectations for product service support.

To actively pursue teamwork and harmony with other departments and promote the achievement of the vision, mission and objectives of the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare a business plan for sales, gross profits and expenses. Compare actual monthly results against plan and take corrective action where objectives are not achieved.
- Maintain control over shop tools/equipment and keep well maintained
- Keep abreast of manufactures service policies, procedures and business policies
- Develop and implement programs for promoting service sales through advertising, merchandising direct customer contact and visits.
- Conduct comprehensive training, monitoring and feedback programs for all service employees.
- Publish service department position descriptions, policies and procedures to ensure compliance by all service employees.
- Oversee and control all activities of the service department including warranty function.
- Manage warranty claims and receivables so they are processed within established limits
- Manage and maintain a lease & rental fleet of 10 plus vehicles.
SKILLS & EDUCATION
Positive attitude, enthusiasm and perseverance
- Well-developed human relations skills: good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in training, coaching and working through others to achieve desired results
- General knowledge of the trucking industry, the local market and competition
- Detailed knowledge of O.E.M and competitive brand component specifications
- 5+ years related experience with a truck dealership in a mechanically related field
- Maintains high professional and personal standards in: Business practices, Image and orderliness, Customer and employee relations
- Ability to handle customer relations in a positive manner
Communication
This position is required to interact with our customers and staff. The successful candidate will require above average communication skills and have the ability to deal with a wide variety of people, directly, on the phone, via email and on the website in a professional and courteous manner.
